CHICO, Calif. - Chico State recently completed its master plan for the next 10 years, which will include many big improvements for the campus.

Construction has been underway for a new physical science building since last May.

Just three weeks ago, they started putting in steel beams and that phase will be completed by next Wednesday.

"It's really going to be the hub for science in the north state really its an opportunity to take our science learning and objective into the next level," Guzzi said.

Associated VP for capital projects at Chico state, Michael Guzzi, said this project will help give students that 21st-century education that they're looking for.

"I was talking with some students and I heard some walking by and I even heard some kids saying hey I can't wait to come back here in a couple of years and see what it's going to look like when it's done, some students were saying too bad its not done I'm already out of here but I'm excited to see what the students of the future get to do," Guzzi said.

The building will house the natural science classes from physics to chemistry and general education to geology.

It will hold 35 classrooms and labs and stretch 110,000 square feet.

The total cost of construction is $101.7 million.

The whole project will be completed and open for students in the fall of 2020.
